Renewable energy is still a distant prospect in Croatia. Half of the country's energy consumption is fueled by oil, and another fourth by gas. A series of local projects have tried to address the problem, but they've remained mainly uncoordinated and disjointed - until now.
A group of local communities is trying to expand climate protection efforts to reach more people and places in Croatia. They're putting environmentally-friendly projects in to practice, too, like solar panels for single family homes and energy-saving street lights. And they're establishing networks to share their message with others.
